Summary of S.M.C. modalities

All students of IISER Kolkata can avail the mess facilities throughout the year,using their Institute ID cards and are provided a lower & non-profit rate on all items in the menu (subject to prior activation of their mess accounts).
Outsiders, however, have to pay in cash or through Debit/Credit Card(POS transaction) and are charged extra on all items.

For all mess boarders, the accounts are maintained on a secure server called SMERP.
  • It is a prepaid system, in which, one can recharge their individual accounts online/offline with any desired amount, which has to be more than or equal to ₹ 500/-, at their own convenient time of the month.
  • A mess boarder is charged only for the items they consume (and that too, on a lower rate). No money is deducted if they choose to skip a meal.
  • The mess account gets blocked if the available balance on the card goes down to ₹ 50/- and has to be recharged before further use.
The S.M.C. takes pride in the fact that this is a system which is unique to IISER Kolkata.
